What SIERRA is

One place. Every signal.

Every emergency visit generates a flood of information: the health record, the continuous trace of a bedside monitor, the images from radiology, the notes a clinician writes, the labs, and what happens in the days and weeks after a patient goes home. Today that information lives in separate systems that were never designed to work together. SIERRA, the Stanford Integrated Emergency Research Repository & Archive, is a secure, centralized, ethically governed repository that brings these streams into one unified, research-ready environment for the first time, so Stanford and the wider research community can study emergency care as it actually unfolds, and build the tools to make it better.
